Theosophy believes in the existence of spirit guides as spirits who have already completed their spiritual journey and hence have no need to reincarnate. They are rather given to guide incarnate persons on the planet earth and beyond. There is a belief that these guides are chosen by us only in consultation with God even before we have taken our birth in order to be guided rightly by them during the course of our life, which, in fact, is our personal spiritual journey on earth. It is said that we can 'meet' our personal guides either in dreams or on the astral plane if we choose to do so with a right technique for the same.
